This story is about Erica and her need to take care of her sister. I didn't know what to make of the relationship between the 2 because we were so wrapped up in other things. Max steps in to save Erica when she gets into an unknown situation and now she needs to find out what she has gotten herself into. Overall I thought this was an intriguing story however somewhere we lost the main story. Max kinda took over and at the end we were like oh yeah there's the sister. I would recommend it because it was still well thought out and the characters were interesting.Product details

I was very pleased with this book start to finish. I read quite a bit truthfully and most are paranormal romance. There are far too many e-books that are complete rubbish either for lack of creativity or due to editing nightmares. Ms. Colgan's book was a breath of fresh air for me. I read it in one sitting and was thrilled that the plot was different, there were twists I didn't see coming and it was well written. Now of course there was a sexy vampire lead character of course and well written steamy love scenes which I am a fan off, so if you blush easily or are turned off by this don't read it.. or pick a different genre ;) Well done Ms. Colgan! I loved it!
I found this vampire romance to be very sexy, intriguing and one I could not put down. I downloaded it free for my and would have gladly paid for it. At first glance I thought it was a psychological thriller with the book cover showing roses, blood and lace. I am so glad I read the description and downloaded it.
The author did a superb job guiding the reader on a twisting, turning journey with vampire investigator Max Hart and client Erica find her sister Elena. The hot sensual scenes were very erotic! I enjoyed every page and look forward to more Jennifer Colgan books in the future.
Hey...How can you go wrong with vamp love? Seriously though, this is a pretty good twist on the classic "human girl falls in love with vamp man" tale. This Vampire (Max) is an officer of vampire law, and he is helping a human girl (Erica) find her "troubled" twin. There are forays into the vampire world that are quite eye opening. Such imagination! Needless to say...in spite of it all...the vamp and the human fall in love. Finding out if that love will overcome the many obstacles thrown in their way makes this book a pleasure to read. Steamy vampire love....be prepared.
Fresh Blood was refreshing. It is paranormal, romance and even a little bit of a mystery as well. Jennifer Colgan is an accomplished author who had me gripped and invested at the start of the book. The book is erotic and the author made me feel the pull that her main character felt in the presence of our hero. This book did not disappoint. I was throughly engaged and felt the characters and their motivations were fleshed out and authentic.
Also I loved the fact that the hero was just a 'normal' vampire. He wasn't the richest nor was he the most powerful. That fact made him more endearing and made me more impressed with the author.
Vampire / human romance, with some explicit (mostly m/f) sex and D/s. If you don't like that kind of thing, you won't like this.
The writing is really good, with an interesting plot (human enlists the help of a vampire investigator to find her missing sister) and well-developed characters.
This book appears to have been professionally edited, with two exceptions the repeated use of "has drank," and about a dozen homophone confusions (plum/plumb, bared/beared, peeked/peaked, for instance), most of which were repeated often enough to preclude the possibility they were typos. There's an intermittent formatting issue; some paragraphs have all lines indented, rather than just the first.
I would buy more books from this author.
This was pretty decent for a freebie. There were some definite hot scenes and a nice relationship between the main characters. I really appreciated the emotions the whole relationship between the twin sisters evoked but I'm not sure how I feel about a squeal for Kyra since I really didn't care for her at the end of this book but I think that's interesting and provides a good challenge for the author. The writing was good and there were very little to no spelling errors. Not really anything to complain about other than I personally would have liked a little more background on the characters and the world that they live in. Of course this could be addressed in the following book. Overall a decently paced and lengthed paranormal romance.
Erica has a twin sister Elena that she's very protective of. Elena has taken advantage of her sisters nurturing love for many years. Now Erica believes her sister is in dire need of her help but first she has to find her.
Enter vampire Maxwell. He is in security for the vampire government. He helps protect the humans and keeps his kind honesty. Max runs into Erica at a Vamp bar and knows she doesn't belong. He befriends her and helps her find out what's happened to her sister. There are mysteries to be figured out and along the way they just happen to be falling in love or is that possible for a vampire and human?
I really enjoy Jennifer's writing style and how she is able to draw reads in and keep you interested in the story. I am looking forward to reading Elena's story. You won't be disappointed in picking up and reading anything Jennifer has written I know I haven't.
